John Carthy is a Managing Director of both RDT and RBC. Previously, he was IT Director of betchronicle.com from 1999 to 2013.
In June 2013, John joined the Ladbrokes group in Ireland where, until July 2018, he served as IT Director. In January 2019, he joined RDT as a Managing Director.
Shaun joined RDT in May 2007 as a Technician. In January 2008, Shaun was promoted to Northern Area Manager and then became the National Racecourse Manager for RDT in March 2011. Finally, in January 2019, Shaun became a Managing Director of RDT.
Prior to Shaun joining RDT, he initially started out as a racecourse clerk in 2001, after leaving university. Shaun went on to become a bookmaking representative for an on-course bookmaker, so his knowledge and experience within the industry spans beyond 20 years.
Tracey is the Finance Director of both RDT and RBC. She originally started at RDT in February 2020, as Finance Manager, and joined the Board of Directors in June 2021.
Tracey previously worked in the renewable energy sector and manufacturing. Within her role as Finance Director, Tracey oversees both the finance and administration sides of RDT and RBC, working closely with the Managing Directors to support the overall management of the company.
Sarah joined RDT as Finance Assistant in June 2016. An experienced and hard-working member of the team, she progressed to Assistant Accountant in September 2022.
Sarah has previously worked in a variety of finance roles, mainly in manufacturing, and holds over 26 years’ experience. Her main tasks at RDT include management accounts, payroll and HR duties.
Frankie joined RDT in August 2022 as a Finance Assistant. She came to RDT after working for 8 years at a local farm shop in finance, where she gained a variety of valuable skills.
Frankie is now an integral member of the RDT family and works alongside Tracey and Sarah in the finance department.
Vicky joined RDT in 2012 as an Admin Assistant. Over the years, Vicky has undertaken various roles within the company, gaining valuable experience and knowledge.
Vicky is now the Office Manager of RDT. This role involves overseeing the daily activities within the office, as well as providing administrative support to the whole team.
Adrian joined RDT in 2016. He is currently an Engineer in the workshop, repairing and building custom products and equipment, used by racecourse bookmakers and RDT technicians.
Adrian’s experience includes repairing bespoke electronics and computer systems for various industries including power stations and steel mills. He also had a period of self-employment, repairing computers for clients such as HSBC, Morrisons and Comet.
Matt joined RDT in 2018, having worked for many years as a machine operator, manufacturing office furniture.
Matt currently works within the workshop, carrying out repairs and managing the maintenance of equipment used by racecourse bookmakers and RDT technicians.
Before joining RDT in 2011, David held roles in engineering, sales and customer service, entering the world of data cabling in the mid 90’s. He joined RDT to jointly lead the rollout of a new contract, on behalf of the BHA, installing networks and hardware at all UK racecourses.
David has worked on numerous network projects, including a public Wi-Fi rollout at ARC racecourses on behalf of Sky. He is also involved in the R&D of products and keeps up to date with new technologies. David has not come through the traditional racing channels and his interests are more racetrack rather than racecourse, but his attitude and values make him a trusted member of RDT.
John has 25 years' experience in the racing industry, initially working for the family business, on-course bookmaking. Around this time, John saw the introduction of early computerised betting systems such as Winning Odds, Betlink and Exante.
After the loss of his parents and subsequent sale of the family business, in 2010, John started a career with RDT as an on-course technician. His role involved supporting bookmakers and assisting in network installations for the BHA. Today, John holds the title of Software Design Manager and is also an integral part of network deployment, especially at festival meetings.
Craig joined RDT in 2008 and is now the Northern Area Manager. Craig previously worked in the retail sector for JJB Sports, but always had an interest in horse racing, so working for RDT within the industry really appealed to him.
During his time with RDT, Craig has developed many new skills which have enabled him to progress. He now has a role on the management side, assisting with any requirements of the day-to-day running of RDT. Craig is also a keen golfer and watches Doncaster Rovers whenever he can (someone has got to).
Grant joined RDT in October 2021. Previously, he worked on-course for both SIS and the Press Association, collating live betting data as a Raceday Manager at horse racing fixtures, and sending shows/returning SPs at greyhound fixtures in the South of England.
Away from work, Grant enjoys running in an attempt to keep fit and is a big sports fan. When he is not on the racecourse, he can be found on a Saturday cheering on Watford FC at Vicarage Road.
Alastair is based in Dunbar, East Lothian, with Musselburgh his closest racecourse. He previously worked in IT field support, covering the LBO estates of Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill and independent bookmakers. He has also gained experience working for an on-course bookmaker.
Returning to RDT as a Technician, Alastair spends most of his time covering Scottish tracks as well as sharing most of the tracks based in Northern England. In his spare time, he enjoys socialising with friends and family and is a keen golfer.
Andrew joined RDT in 2015. He previously worked for on-course bookmakers all his working life, gaining valuable experience and knowledge on track.
Andrew is based in the North of England and has progressed into one of the most valued members of the RDT family, thanks to his strong work ethic and helpful personality.
Dominique has spent many years working in the racing and betting industries. She has worked in racing yards of both codes and has been lucky to have ridden some very good horses. She has also saddled and travelled horses all over Europe.
Within the betting industry, Dominique has worked as a betting shop manager and a horse racing odds compiler and trader for Victor Chandler in Gibraltar. On returning to the UK, she spent many years on-course for Turf TV and PA Sport returning SPs.
Danny joined RDT in January 2022 as a Technician. Prior to this, he worked for his father’s business providing betting stands at various racecourses across the UK. This means, Danny has been brought up on racecourses from a young age, working closely with bookmakers.
Danny also gets heavily involved in network setups, especially at larger festival meetings such as the Cheltenham Festival, Grand National and Epsom Derby.
George joined RDT in September 2022, having previously worked for an on-course bookmaker from the age of 19, for a total of 7 years. George studied IT in college and has always had a keen interest in technology.
Living a stone’s throw from Lingfield Racecourse, George is predominantly seen on tracks around London and the South of England. Away from racing, George is a huge poker enthusiast and very passionate about other sports including NFL, football, snooker and cricket.
Ian has worked for RDT for over 6 years as a Technician. He mainly works at racecourses based in the North of England and Scotland but does venture down South when required. Ian worked in IT and network support in the oil and gas industry for 14 years, before moving to the sports broadcasting industry in 2014. Within this industry, Ian worked for SIS at Media City, providing IT support on and off site.
Outside of work, Ian takes a keen interest in sport, in particular cricket, horse racing and football. He is even a season ticket holder for Middlesbrough FC.
Macauley joined RDT back in 2018 on a casual basis, working most weekends. Passionate about the racing industry, he made the decision to join RDT as a full time Technician in August 2022.
Previously, Macauley worked for an in-house division of the UK’s largest electrical wholesaler. Gaining over 8 years’ experience in various sales, data and marketing positions. Outside of work, Macauley is a keen follower of both horse racing and Formula 1.
Jamie joined RDT in 2023, as a Technician, and holds a wealth of knowledge. A passion of his since leaving school, much to his mother’s dismay, Jamie dived into on-course bookmaking and has over 20 years’ experience within the betting ring. Jamie’s father is also an on-course bookmaker and has held a betting licence for over 35 years, trading up and down the country.
Jamie loves greyhound racing, where his father started, and now owns half a dozen greyhounds himself. He also appears on RPGTV as an analyst from time to time. Outside of work, he enjoys watching and playing most sports.
Based in the West Midlands, Mike joined RDT as a Technician in 2015, having previously clerked for several on-course bookmakers. Prior to this, Mike worked as a business analyst and market researcher for Unisys, and as an IT implementer and trainer for Bass Leisure Retail.
Mike has also played American football for the Aston Rhinos for several years, but these days confines his sporting activities to the occasional round of golf in virtual reality.
James began life on the racecourse back in 2001 as a Technician working for the early incarnation of RDT, Winning Odds. From 2015 to 2021, he worked for the PA as an SP Validator before the on-course betting market was taken off-course and the job ultimately ceased.
James soon rejoined RDT on a part time basis, becoming a full time Technician again in 2024. Thanks to his knowledge of the betting industry, he is also able to incorporate betting compliance duties into his role when called upon. Based in Essex, he predominantly covers tracks in the Southern half of the country.
